Suburban Eateries on Detroit's Best New Restaurants List

METRO DETROIT — The anticipated list of the best new restaurants of the year from the Detroit Free Press was announced Wednesday, and it includes three in Oakland County.

The Restaurant of the Year title went to Chartreuse Kitchen and Cocktails, where executive chef Doug Hewitt prepares “dignified rustic dishes” that are “exceptionally fresh” even when the ingredients are out of season.

The Top 10 list was compiled by former Free Press restaurant critic Sylvia Rector, who retired Dec. 30, and her successor, Mark Kurlyandchik.
