Take a Moment to Paint a Holiday Masterpiece

This is the time of year people start to hustle and bustle. At , patrons can slow down for a few hours and enjoy the season while creating their own masterpieces. And here's the "twist" -- painters are invited to bring in their favorite wine or beverage to sip as they learn the tricks of trade.

It's this combination that has earned the New Business of the Year award. Owner Michelle Lewis said the business earned the accolades at the Awards Gala on Nov 11. Lewis also was awarded Best New Independent Service Business honors in August during the Ferndale 's 2011 appreciation awards.

The award-winning business continues to create strokes of fun with a full lineup of events for the busy holiday season, such as Wednesday's selection. Join local artist as he offers another twist: Spencer will show participants step-by-step how to make their own take-home versions of Midnight Blues, and he will also show patrons how to make it glow in the dark.

The December calendar also includes an Abstract Menorah option from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Dec. 20, Family Day selections and Kids Kamp painting days.

Family Days allow the whole family to paint selections, such as X-Mas Tree 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 1 or Snowy Man from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 11.

For $25, drop the kids off at Kids Kamp and get some extra shopping done Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays Dec. 20-29. They get a fun project to take home, and parents get to shop alone. But reserve a spot soon because space is limited, Painting With a Twist warns.
