Tigers Winter Caravan to Stop at Garden Fresh Gourmet in Ferndale on Friday

Do you have a favorite salsa from Ferndale's ?

Pretty soon, the Detroit Tigers will, too.

From 3-4:20 p.m. Friday, Detroit Tigers players and coaches will stop in at the  in Ferndale, where they'll be greeted by employees, taste some salsa and participate in an employee rally.

The Tigers will be offered a taste test of Garden Fresh’s top three salsas to determine the Tigers’ favorite. They will then participate in an employee rally, including an interactive question and answer session and raffle.

Friday's event in at Garden Fresh, which is not open to the public, is part of the , in which two buses and a crew of a dozen additional vehicles are spreading across Oakland County and elsewhere in the state to spread baseball fever.

"We're thrilled to get baseball at the top of our minds again with the Winter Caravan," said Elaine Lewis, vice president of Community and Public Affairs for the Tigers.
"What is most impressive is how nearly the entire 40-man roster of players and our coaching staff are set to return to Detroit in the middle of winter, embrace the caravan and engage the fans."

Scheduled to be part of the caravan are David Dombrowski, Tigers president, chief executive officer and general manager; Al Avila, vice president/assistant general manager; Manager Jim Leyland, as well as additional coaches, players, broadcasters and - of course - Tigers mascot PAWS.
