UPDATE: City Says Dunkin' Donuts Working with Officials to Fix Damaged Wall
A vehicle punched a hole in the cinder block wall of the northern parking lot of Dunkin' Donuts, leaving debris in the alley.
Ferndale's Community Development Service Director Derek Delacourt said Dunkin' Donuts' owners are working with the city to repair the cinder block wall damaged earlier this week when a vehicle plowed through it.
"It's not really a code enforcement issue as long as they show good faith in working (with the) city to resolve the issue," he said.
A vehicle had driven through the cinder block wall of the northern parking lot that separates the alley from the lot. Debris from the incident have made passing through the alley between Albany and Leroy streets impossible. Dunkin' Donuts representatives have been unavailable for comment.

"We've explained to them that they need someone to come clean it up first to get the debris out of the alley and they'll work with the building official to come up with a plan to either replace or fix the damaged section of wall," Delacourt said.
Ferndale's Department of Public Works Director Byron Photiades said a vehicle had driven through the barrier that divides the alley and Dunkin' Donuts' northern parking lot "a few days ago."

Photiades said that damage to the cinder block wall is not uncommon.
"This is not the first time this has happened," he said. "It has happened a number of times."
Ferndale Police Lt. Detective William Wilson and Ferndale Fire Marshal Brian Batten said they were unaware of the incident.
