Vehicle Identified in Fatal Ferndale Hit-and-Run Friday Evening
The Ferndale Police have identified a light-colored, short-bed pickup truck with tinted windows as the vehicle involved in Friday's fatal hit-and-run.

A vehicle struck Detroit resident Miriam Scott, 38, in a dimly lit area between Pinecrest and Livernois.
After hitting Scott, the vehicle continued on westbound Eight Mile.
Ferndale Police Lt. Detective William Wilson has released a description of the vehicle, given to Ferndale Police by an eyewitness:

- Late-model extended cab, short-bed pickup truck with 1½ doors on each side
- Light colored, possibly white or silver
- Chrome grill
- The bed has a low profile cover
- Tinted windows
- Front-end damage, including broken headlight cover
"According to witnesses, Scott was walking across a dimly lit area of Eight Mile road at Pinecrest, and she appeared to be oblivious to traffic when she stepped in front of the pick-up truck," Wilson said.
Ferndale Police are still hoping the driver will contact the department.

"It appears that this was a tragic accident in which the driver was not at fault," Wilson said. "The driver may have panicked and fled even though they may not have been to blame. If this is the case, we urge them to help clear this matter up rather than allowing a felony investigation to continue which may result in their arrest."
