The Ferndale Police Department released to the media still photos of the suspect vehicle taken from a patrol car that was making a traffic stop south of the crash scene.
“The media involvement putting this information out to the public was critical in the investigation and played a part in recovering the recovery of the suspect vehicle and identification of the arrested woman,” Ferndale Detective Lt. William Wilson said in a news release.

He went on to say that “it is a difficult time for the family and friends of the victim of this event.”
