• Ferrysburg approves dune treatment to combat invasive plants and tick habitat (mlive.com) — Ferrysburg residents should know that City Council approved a $9,700 contract to chemically treat invasive honeysuckle and barberry at the Kitchel Lindquist Hartger Dunes Preserve, aiming to protect native plants and reduce tick habitat. Officials cited nearby Lone Star tick findings and stressed that targeted stump treatments should limit herbicide exposure while addressing growing health concerns for park users and neighbors.
