Free Cabildo concert in Flint marks music series finale (mlive.com) — Flint residents are invited to a free outdoor Cabildo concert on Sept. 15 at Totem Books, wrapping up the 2026 Levitt AMP Flint Music Series. Running 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the show coincides with the start of Hispanic Heritage Month and encourages neighbors to bring chairs or blankets and celebrate one last evening of live music together.
   

2. Judge Allows Expert Swap in Flint Water Crisis FTCA Case (cohenmilstein.com) — Flint residents pursuing claims over the federal government's response to the water crisis have been allowed to replace a key pediatric neuropsychology expert who can no longer work due to Alzheimer's disease. The judge limited the new expert to the original exam and opinions, keeping the case moving while preserving fairness in the ongoing federal lawsuit.
   

3. Flint Schools to begin demolishing Central H.S. building Thursday (abc12.com) — Flint Community Schools will start demolishing the long-vacant former Central High School building on Thursday at 10 a.m., launching visible work on a new $100 million high school funded by the C.S. Mott Foundation. Residents are invited to watch from designated viewing areas as the district replaces a historic landmark with a modern campus expected to open in 2028 for future Flint students.
   

4. Flint LEADS Events Focus on Early Detection and Health Access (fyh.news) — Flint will host two Flint LEADS events Oct. 1–2 that bring national health, policy, and industry leaders here to focus on making cutting-edge cancer detection more affordable and accessible in communities like ours. Building on local clinics and a new city health division, the gatherings aim to turn data on Genesee County's cancer burden into concrete policy and care improvements.
   

5. Forensic exam finds Flint Township couple competent for trial in 255-pound son's death (abc12.com) — Flint Township parents Damien and Jessica O'Brien have been ruled competent to stand trial in the death of their 7-year-old son, who died in their Flint Township home in 2025. A state forensic examiner found both understand the court process, allowing Genesee County prosecutors to move forward while a separate criminal responsibility exam for Damien is still pending.
