View Brew Fest Returns to Lapeer

Returning festival promises food, craft beer, and entertainment for a cause.

Nearly everyone has a favorite beer these days, and it’s always nice to enjoy them out in public with friends and neighbors at a favorite bar. But what if you had the chance to enjoy them for a good cause?

For the past six years, Louie’s Sports Tavern of Lapeer has been home to the View Brewfest. Each year, the Brewfest brings together local musicians and a large sampling of craft beers from all around the nation to provide entertainment and refreshments to locals, travelling craft beer enthusiasts, or simply anyone looking for a good time.

And now, for year six, the Brewfest returns on September 15, 2018. In keeping with the festival’s growth over the previous few years, this year’s Brewfest offers an array of nearly 80 craft beers from brewers located both inside Michigan and further away, all provided in convenient sample glasses. One glass is provided upon arrival, and additional sample tickets are available for $1 if you need to try a few more.

It’s not all just beer, though. During the fest, the cooks of Louie’s Sports Tavern will be on hand to provide freshly grilled food including hot dogs, hamburgers, and appetizers throughout the entire festival. And if that’s not enough, Louie’s will be open and operating as normal for guests that want to go inside and get an old favorite off the full menu.

Alongside the refreshments and food, local musicians such as (appropriately enough) The Locals will be on hand to provide free entertainment while you peruse the beer offerings.

All the drinking and merriment will be for a good cause, too. View Brewfest 2018 will be donating all proceeds towards the Lapeer County Hockey Association, a group based in Lapeer that aims to instill a sense of teamwork, dedication, and discipline in all young athletes, as well as a strong grounding in the fundamentals of good hockey. In the first five years, Brewfest has raised $31,000 for this organization and 2018 will continue the tradition of providing for young local athletes.

Sponsors of this event include Jim Riehl’s Friendly Chrysler, Genisys Credit Union, Kapala Heating & Air Conditioning, and Lapeer Wine & Spirits.

Tickets are available online at MI Home Paper or at Louie’s Sports Tavern ahead of the event.
