1. MTA expands Genesee Connect service in southern Genesee County (abc12.com) — On-demand Genesee Connect rides are now easier for Grand Blanc residents, with an expanded service zone linking parts of Mundy Township and Grand Blanc to MTA bus routes 8 and 11. You can request pickups via the SmartMove app or by phone, often in 15 minutes or less. Service runs seven days a week and connects to major shopping and job destinations.
2. Grand Blanc man sentenced to prison for attempted sexual coercion of a minor (midmichigannow.com) — A 38-year-old Grand Blanc man has been sentenced to 12 years in federal prison after an undercover Homeland Security operation caught him attempting to arrange sex with what he believed was an 8-year-old girl. Investigators say he booked a hotel room, brought beer, condoms, and devices containing thousands of child pornography files before being arrested. Authorities emphasize the sting prevented harm to a real child.
3. Ketchum, Barone named 2026 GBHS Distinguished Alumni (geneseecountyview.com) — Grand Blanc High School's Alumni Association has named Sharon Ketchum and Joe Barone its 2026 Distinguished Alumni, honoring careers that span mental health advocacy, foreign service, law, and public service. Both honorees will return to Grand Blanc for Homecoming week, riding in the parade and being recognized at halftime, giving local students and neighbors a chance to celebrate their achievements.
4. Grand Blanc LDS church donates 40,000 pounds of food to FISH (geneseecountyview.com) — A Grand Blanc LDS congregation has donated 40,000 pounds of shelf-stable food to FISH of Grand Blanc, easing a serious shortage at the local pantry. Organizers are now gearing up for the Nov. 21 Feed the Bus drive at Grand Blanc High School and the Christmas basket program for families within Grand Blanc Community Schools, and they're seeking both applicants and sponsors.
5. Valley champs!: Dow edges GB for first title since 2022 (ourmidland.com) — Grand Blanc's boys' soccer team fell 2-1 to Dow High in a rainy Saginaw Valley League championship, despite taking an early lead and pressing hard late. The Bobcats still impressed with strong play and may get a rematch on their home field in upcoming district action, giving local fans another high-stakes showdown to anticipate.
