Author Abby Stokes to Present Internet Safety Tips to Senior Adults

Tech savvy author Abby Stokes will teach seniors how to safely surf the Internet during a free event at Covenant Village of the Great Lakes.

Tech savvy author Abby Stokes will teach area seniors how to safely surf the Internet during a free program entitled, “How to Safely Surf the Internet and Find Almost Anything,” on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017 at 2 p.m., at Covenant Village of the Great Lakes, a senior living community located at 2510 Lake Michigan Drive N.W., Grand Rapids.

Stokes will offer tips on identity protection and address concerns about mobile banking and online shopping. She will discuss how to prevent becoming a victim of an online scam and recommend reputable websites to visit for information on travel, finance, health and more.

She is the author of “Is This Thing On? A Friendly Guide to Everything Digital” and an instructor at Cooper Union and New York University’s School of Lifelong Learning. Stokes has helped nearly 250,000 people understand and navigate the latest technology including the Internet, computers, tablets, smartphones and email.
