On Friday, September 27, City High Middle School will be celebrating its recognition by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2019. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

“It’s an honor for City High Middle School to receive this recognition,” says Principal Ryan Huppert. “As one of the top-performing high schools nationwide, this distinction reiterates how hard we’ve been working and will continue to work to give the best college and career preparation to students in Grand Rapids.”
The coveted National Blue Ribbon Schools award affirms the hard work of educators, families, and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content.
