Tanelle has foster failed not once, not twice, but three times with shelter dogs who all had various behavioral needs which include canine reactivity, anxiety, fear based reactivity, and hyperarousal. Dogs who were struggling and declining in the shelter environment but who absolutely thrive at home. 🥹 Real life experience
🏠 Adopting a dog? Let's talk about that too!
The shelter environment is incredibly stressful on dogs despite everything the shelter does to reduce stress. The noise, the stress, the unpredictability, the loss of everything familiar it can take a toll. Many dogs who appear shut down, anxious, or reactive in the shelter are completely different dogs once they get into a home. But that transformation doesn't happen overnight, and that is okay.
When a dog leaves the shelter they are experiencing yet another massive transition new place, new smells, new people, new routines all at once. They need time to settle, their trust needs time to build, and their true personality needs time and safety to emerge. Time and patience isn't just helpful it is everything!
Bring ALL of your questions. No judgment here, just genuine help from someone who cares and wants to see you and your pup succeed! 🙌🐾
Come celebrate with us on the dog friendly patio! (Well behaved, dog social and people social dogs on leash please)
Let's raise a glass to the one who help inspire a organization and lets help raise some funds to keep pets with their families and prevent economic surrender to the shelter!
