Doyle & Ogden Insurance Employees Receive Award
West Bend honors its agents and the nonprofit organizations they support
West Bend Mutual Insurance announced that it has given its Spirit of the Silver Lining Award to Mike Doyle and Shannon Heads of Doyle & Ogden Insurance Advisors. Doyle serves as President of Doyle & Ogden, and Heads is Vice President of Operations. The award honors West Bend agents and the nonprofit organizations they support for their dedication to delivering a silver lining to those in need.
Doyle and Heads were presented the Spirit of the Silver Lining Award for their support of the Del J. & Jean B. Doyle Family Foundation. Additionally, West Bend donated a $10,000 grant to the organization.
As a tribute to the philanthropic efforts of Doyle’s parents and Doyle & Ogden Insurance co-founder, the Del J. & Jean B. Doyle Family Foundation was established in 2005. Since its inception, the foundation has worked to support a variety of causes in Michigan, including Coats for Kids.

In 2009, when a Doyle & Ogden employee heard that local kids were going to school in the middle of winter without a proper coat, the foundation felt inspired to take action and established the Coats for Kids program. In its first year, 50 kids in need received a brand new coat. In 2016, the number donated in a single year rose to 450 coats.
“As proud members of the Grand Rapids community, it is important for us at Doyle & Ogden to give back,” said Doyle. “Thank you, West Bend, for the generous grant, which will allow us to create an even bigger impact and greatly increase the number of coats we will be able to donate to schoolchildren in the coming years.”

Since 2006, West Bend has awarded more than $1.4 million in grants for sustaining support, special projects, or capital projects to nonprofit organizations representing a broad field of interests, including, but not limited to: arts and culture; education; the environment; family, youth, and elderly; health and human services; medical research; and community development.
