Grand Rapids Celebrates Global McDelivery Day

GR one of 200 cities around the world to take part in worldwide event

GRAND RAPIDS, MI, [JULY 19, 2018] McDonald’s is celebrating fun, food and convenience around the world by celebrating Global McDelivery Day.

This year on Global McDelivery Day, McDonald’s is transforming everyday, routine moments into fun and delicious moments. McDonald’s knows that right now, there’s nothing more fun than 1990s nostalgia, so this year, we’re introducing the Throwback Collection – a set of fun T-shirts, bandanas, pins, socks and Pop Sockets featuring designs inspired by the ‘90s.

As part of the celebration, a Music Moments event was held outside the Van Andel Arena on Wednesday night. Dueling pianos entertained crowds who were attending two downtown concerts and people who stopped by received items from the Throwback Collection and a chance to try McDelivery.

“Delivering convenience and fun to our customers is part of McDonald’s DNA,” said Carl Wiseman, McDonald’s owner/operator in Grand Rapids. “We’re proud to bring the fun of Global McDelivery Day into our local community and share the ease and convenience of our partnership with Uber Eats with our neighbors.”

People who order McDelivery through Uber Eats, from a participating McDonald’s restaurant, on July 19 can receive a free Throwback Collection gift with a minimum $5 food order beginning at 10:30 or 11 a.m. depending on lunch time at your local restaurant, while supplies last. Simply add your McDelivery swag to your Uber Eats basket along with your order. The ‘90s Throwback Collection will be available on a first come, first-served basis only at participating restaurants.

After decades of delivery success in Latin America, Asia and the Middle East, McDonald’s and Uber Eats began piloting McDelivery with 200 restaurants in January of 2017. One year later, McDelivery is available in nearly 12,000 restaurants around the world through Uber Eats and various delivery partners, giving our guests the craveable, delicious McDonald’s food they love when they can't get to us.
