Grand Rapids Merrill Lynch Advisors Honored as Best in America

Merrill Lynch Wealth Management Advisors Named on Barron's lists of Top 50 Institutional Consultants and Top 1,200 Advisors

James Veldheer, Timothy Long, and William Mackay have been named to the Barron’s "Top 50 Institutional Consultants" in 2018. All three are Managing Directors at The Veldheer, Long, Mackay & Bernecker Group in Grand Rapids, MI.

Managing Director Scott Bernecker, along with Mackay, was also recognized on the 2018 Barron’s “Top 1,200 Financial Advisors” list.

Veldheer joined Merrill Lynch in 1990. He concentrates on consulting to pensions, foundations, endowments, and high net-worth families on their investment portfolios. Jim is a graduate of Aquinas College.

Timothy Long has worked with Merrill Lynch since 1994. He concentrates on the financial and estate needs of institutions and individuals with high net worth. Tim attended Hope College and was a Baker Scholar.

William Mackay joined Merrill Lynch in 1993. He offers a full spectrum of institutional and high net worth investment strategies with an intimate client-consultant relationship. Bill graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame.

Scott Bernecker joined Merrill Lynch in 1997 as a Financial Planning Specialist. He provides wealth management to individuals, families, nonprofit and corporate clients. Scott is a graduate of Michigan State University Broad College of Business.

The advisors in the Top 50 Institutional ranking were evaluated on a range of criteria, including institutional investment assets overseen by the advisor and his/her team, the revenue generated by those assets, the number of clients served, and the number of team members and their regulatory records. Also considered were the advanced professional designations and accomplishment represented on the team.
