Here are the top 3 stories today in Grand Rapids:
- Grand Rapids Public Schools is now requiring masks at all times, regardless of vaccination status. The school system updated COVID-19 protocols, including quarantine protocols. Anyone who tests positive must isolate, and unvaccinated staff and students who are living with someone who tests positive will also be required to isolate. (WOODTV.com)
- A three-story, 52-unit apartment building is planned for a Grand Rapids neighborhood. The building is planned to be built near the corner of Coit Avenue NE and Trowbridge Street. The apartments will be reserved for low-to-moderate-income residents. (MLive.com)
- On Friday, a Grand Rapid daycare teacher was arrested after she was accused of abuse of a child last fall. Police say 62-year-old Karen Hornecker was arrested in connection to allegations she abused at the Little Lights Childcare Center on Sibley Street on Grand Rapids' west side. - Grand Rapids Art Museum is inviting residents to explore 140 works by Dawoud Bey and Carrie Mae Weems, two of the most influential contemporary photographers living today. Since meeting at the Studio Museum in Harlem in 1977, the artists have been intellectual colleagues. (Instagram)
- Kalamazoo Public Library shared that in 1845, The Raven was published by Edgar Allen Poe. The poem is often noted for its musicality, stylized language, and supernatural atmosphere. This poem is often used in schools as children's first step into poetry analysis. (Facebook)
- City of Battle Creek, MI Government shared that they have added the green strobe lights to their snowplows because they have better visibility than just the amber-yellow lights. (Facebook)
