Here are the top stories today in Grand Rapids:

  1. Amid the recent COVID surge, all jury trials in Grand Rapids 17th Circuit Court are on hold until Mar. 7. Judges do not want to bring large numbers of people into courthouses due to the current rates of COVID transmission. Officials have urged the community to take steps to help control the spread. 2. The Grand Rapids Ballet is celebrating its 50th anniversary with its February debut of "Cinderella." The ballet was founded by retired professional dancer Sally Seven in 1971. 3. Local Grand Rapids organizations hosted a vaccination clinic to honor Martin Luther King Junior, on Monday. The Grand Rapids African American Health Institute hosted the event while the University of Michigan Health-West administered the vaccines. The COVID vaccines were free. (WOODTV.com)

Doing a "Dry January" or just looking for a flavorful alternative to regular cocktails? Here's a suggestion: try a non-alcoholic drink from our partners at Betera. Created by an award-winning chef from natural botanicals, Betera's drinks come in 3 flavors — Ginger-Orange, Elderflower-Lime and Rhubarb-Hibiscus. We tried Ginger-Orange, and it was excellent — lightly effervescent, floral with a hint of bitterness and the sippability of a cocktail.

Betera is offering readers of the Daily a 15% discount on their first order: use PATCH15 at checkout. Highly recommended — you can try Betera here.
