Here are the top three stories today in Grand Rapids:

  1. The Grand Rapids City Commissioners pushed against a new parking garage on Library Street NE. The Tuesday meeting was to discuss community feedback that the city gathered regarding the 500-space parking garage that has space for potential housing and businesses. The community reportedly wants the space to be used for more residential housing. (MLive.com)
  2. The Grand Rapids NAACP is demanding that Kent County Prosecutor Chris Becker recuse himself in the Lyoya investigation. The organization also wants Chief Winstrom to immediately fire Officer Christopher Schurr. The officer's name was released by the department on Monday. (WZZM13.com)
  3. Grand Rapids' City High has once again been named Michigan's top high school by U.S. News & World Report. The school was founded in the 1970s as a school for the area's highly motivated and gifted students. City High was also ranked 18th in the nation — the highest ranking the school has received nationally. (WOODTV.com)
