3 Robbed at Gunpoint in Grosse Pointe Park

The suspects did the right thing by complying with the suspects' demands, police said.

Three people were robbed at gunpoint in Grosse Park Pointe in the area of Maryland and Kercheval early Sunday morning and police were still seeking two male suspects Monday evening, police said.

One of the suspects reportedly pointed a silver handgun and demanded valuables from the two women and a man as they walked south in the 1200 block of Maryland Road about 1:30 a.m., Grosse Pointe Park Public Safety Chief David Hiller told C&G Newspapers.

The suspects got away with $140, a black Yves Saint Laurent clutch purse, a blue Kate Spade bag, a black Louis Vuitton wallet, a black iPhone 6, a silver iPhone 6 and various keys and credit cards.

“This is a very rare occurrence for us,” Hiller told the newspaper. “We’re very fortunate no one was hurt.”

Hiller said the three victims reacted correctly by complying with the demands. Residents should be aware of their surroundings and “if confronted, don’t try anything,” Hiller said.

The suspects were both black males, one about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with medium-to-long curly black hair and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, and the other 5 feet, 10 inches tall wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
