South boys, North/South girls battle to stay alive in high school lacrosse state playoffs.

The trio of local lacrosse teams continue their quest for a state championship Wednesday night.
The high school boys lacrosse squad from locks horns with Orchard Lake St. Mary’s in a showdown between a pair of evenly matched teams.
The come in as the state’s 27th best squad, while OLSM chimes in at No. 32, according to the May 29, 2011 Freeman Lacrosse Rankings.

South’s boys are slated to play at 6:30 p.m. at Farmington High School.
On the girls side, both and Grosse Pointe South find themselves with big games Wednesday evening—with even bigger implications should both survive tonight’s matchups.

South takes on Birmingham Seaholm in the Troy region opener beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Troy High School. Meanwhile the Lady Norsemen square off against Top 10-ranked (No. 7 according to the latest Freeman rankings) Bloomfield Hills Marian in the regional nightcap beginning at 7 p.m. at Troy.
Should both North and South’s squads get by their opponents Wednesday evening, the two rivals will meet up June 3 in the regional final. This contest will get underway at 7 p.m. At Troy High School.
