A few of my favorite things made in Detroit! (related to food and drink of course!)
- Avalon International Breads in Midtown, Detroit--Try their Date Bars. They are soooo good! The only thing better than one Date Bar is a bag of day old Date Bars where they pack four date bars in a bag and they are all squished together...all of the oats and date-y goodness is in there. Their breads are made with organic flour and they have many vegan options.
- Ghettoblaster (beer) brewed by Motor City Brewing Works, also located in Midtown Detroit. Great English style ale, with a smooth finish and just enough bite to keep you interested. Ghettoblaster is serverd at other establishments, however check out the Brewry itself, they have great pizzas and a great deck and atmosphere!
- Brisket at Slow's BBQ and Slow's To Go in Detroit. Order the "end" of the brisket...this is the mouthwatering, fatty, spicy, flavorful end that makes your tummy happy!
- Cajun Pretzels from Kim's Produce on Woodward in Detroit. They whip up batches of these pretzels right at Kim's at they are soooo spicy, tasty and addictive! I can't help but tell everyone to go get them.
- Raw, Vegan Kale Chips- Made by Living Zen Organics at the Detroit Zen Center in Hamtramck . You can buy them there, or you can find them at Goodwell's in Midtown, right next to Avalon International Breads. They are crispy and flavored with tahini, garlic, sea salt and other spices for a healthy snack! Try one of these Detroit favorites. They are really just around the corner!
