Red Wings Winning Streak at Home Over? Time to Start a New One!
My thoughts on the Red Wings 23-game home winning streak coming to an end.
After a 23-game home winning streak by the Detroit Red Wings was snapped Thursday night against the Vancouver Canucks, all we can say is that all good things must come to an end. I on the other hand, disagree; I say it’s time to start a new one. Granted, winning 23 games in a row at home is easier said than done, it all starts with one game at a time, and the Red Wings have 11 home games left, and they could still carry a winning streak at home that lasts all the way into the next season’s home opener.
When you’re on such a hot streak, you never really want it to end, especially when you have a wave of momentum on your side. Unfortunately, you’re only human, you’re never perfect, and somebody’s going to beat you in your house at some point. I don’t look at the loss as the end of something though, I look at it as the beginning. I feel it could be the streak that jump-starts the Red Wings to a deep playoff run. I feel it could be just the kind of short momentum they need to turn the corner and be very successful in the long term.
Honestly, I don’t know if anybody is going to win 23 games in a row at home again in the NHL. It’s one tough chore. I do know this, the Red Wings did it, and it was fun to watch. It may be over, but there’s always a chance to start a new one, and even more, try to match or even break your record. Bottom line, as they always say, records are made to be broken and when one streak ends, start a new one. For me, this streak may be over, but never forgotten, and it can be done again. It just takes one game at a time, to start a new one.
