Summertime, And the Writing is Difficult ... But the Biscuits and Gravy are Excellent!
Why write when you can play?
Summertime is here in the Pointes (if you ignore the weather) and with it comes the perfect time to procrastinate.
A little background—I've been working on my master's thesis for, oh, THREE years now ... and due to the statute of limitations, my work is coming to a merciful end: I have until the end of the year to finish.
I've now conveniently begun to find all sorts of ways to avoid the dreaded writing element of my thesis, which will comprise 100 percent of my grade, of course. Strolling the Village on a Thursday night to experience jazz in the Village is another. Picnicking in ... reading board books in the , coffee at and the Park's Farmers Market are also pretty fun detours to the exciting world of the nuances of 18th-century legislative power struggles in colonial South Carolina.
It's tough to curl up with minutes from a journal covering the daily actions of a government council circa 1766 when it's 72 and sunny outside, but I have dedicated myself to boldly finishing what should have been done two years ago ... talk about dedication, right?

I recommend to everyone not facing a blank word processor document, a pile of dusty books and a deadline to get outside and enjoy all those amazing events that make the Pointes such a fun place to get distracted!
