Brief: Grosse Pointe Park's Finest to Protect and Serve in New Rides

After delaying the purchase for several years, the Grosse Pointe Park Public Safety Department will buy four new vehicles.

The purchase of the Crown Victorias was approved by the City Council Monday night.

One car will be purchased immediately for $20,468 with money coming from last year's budget.

The the other three will in arrive in September and cost $20,765.

The cars equal about half the fleet, Chief David Hiller, director of public safety, said.

The cars being replaced have more than 100,000 miles and will be auctioned off, he said. The income will fund the transfer of police equipment from the old cars to the new, Hiller said.
