Join neighbors of all ages as they gather to Color a Community of Kindness, Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in The Village Grosse Pointe. This creative art experience that encourages everyone to Spread Kindness is a collaborative partnership with Grosse Pointe Theatre, Posterity Gallery, and Main Street Grosse Pointe. 
This kindness event was inspired by the character Cinderella in Grosse Pointe Theatre’s upcoming production of Rodgers &amp; Hammerstein’s Cinderella, playing June 5-21 at the Schaap Center.
Cinderella’s courage, resilience, hope and kindness demonstrates that everyone has the power to make a difference by being kind.
WHAT:&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Color a Community of Kindness This partnership with Grosse Pointe Theatre, Posterity Gallery, and Main Street Grosse Pointe, is a free event to encourage kindness.
WHEN:&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Rain or Shine.)
WHERE:&nbsp; &nbsp; The Village Grosse Pointe, St. Clair and Kercheval streets.
WHY:&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;To bring communities together to Spread Kindness and create a meaningful experience through the creation of a whimsical Cinderella-themed mural that will be displayed in The Village; coloring Kindness Cards that will be shared with Make-A-Wish Michigan for children battling serious illnesses; and sharing a thoughtful message on mini Kindness Pass-It-On Cards.
 WHO:&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Participants of all ages are welcome. Children are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character from Cinderella to add to this magical experience.

Chamber Music at the Scarab Club is excited to present Schubert &amp; Waghalter, the final concert of its 27th season upstairs in the lounge gallery of The Scarab Club. The program features Alaina Brown singing Franz Schubert’s evocative Shepherd on the Rock along with works by H. T. Burleigh, Hall Johnson and Margaret Bonds. Also, Lillian Scheirich (Concertmaster of the Windsor Symphony) and pianist Mary Siciliano are thrilled to perform composer/conductor Ignatz Waghalter’s expressive Violin Sonata. Adding to the significance of this performance, Waghalter’s grandson, David Green, will join us to share personal reflections about his grandfather. Reception to follow. According to Director and Co-Choreographer Timothy Higgins, “This production is special for many reasons, especially the musical score by Rodger's &amp; Hammerstein! Audiences will hear all the beloved songs that generations have come to love.” 
This 2013 Broadway adaptation by Douglas Carter Beane has all the elements of the beloved classic – but with a modern twist. The storyline blends classic and modern attributes, introduces hilarious moments, several new characters, and yet remains the heartfelt tale of a resilient, caring, smart and kind woman, Cinderella, who falls in love with her prince. The magical onstage transformations and charming story will amaze audiences of all ages. 
 
Grosse Pointe Theatre’s production of Rogers &amp; Hammerstein’s Cinderella is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of The Rodgers &amp; Hammerstein Organization.
