Car Turning onto Vernier Causes Accident
An adult and child were hospitalized for observation following an accident Wednesday morning on Vernier, east of Mack.

are investigating an accident Wednesday morning on Vernier, at Sunningdale Park.
Police Det. Sgt. Ray Yonkowski said a driver was turning west on Vernier off Sunningdale Park about 8 a.m. and struck an eastbound vehicle. The driver claimed "she didn't see" the other car, according to Yonkowski.
The collision caused the air bags to deploy, striking the driver in her face. The woman and her son were transported to St. John Hospital for "precautionary measures," he said. The driver in the second vehicle was not injured.

A third vehicle involved had minor scruff marks, Yonkowski said.
Ages of those involved were not available as police continue their investigation.

The accident was a topic of concern for those who posted Wednesday on the Grosse Pointe Patch Facebook page.
Angela Linenfelser Gabridge wrote: "School drop off was a nightmare" and wondered what happened.
Kristin Schaefer Boutell shared: "I hope everyone was okay. The police who were assisting with traffic around Mason were very nice!"
The intersection is an area of concern for Allison McNeill Gudenau. She wrote: "Turning left off of Sunningdale on to Vernier is so treacherous; it would be highly inconvenient, but it should be made right-turn only there. Hope everyone involved is okay."
