Detroit Jazz Festival

It's been voted one of the best jazz festivals in North America, so why not head downtown as Motown comes alive this weekend with the 32nd annual Detroit Jazz Festival. It's four days of truly international artistry, with the theme this year being "We Bring You the World. From Sept. 2-5 dozens of acts from near and far — from Detroit to Japan and plenty of places in between — will perform in a variety of styles, from gospel to jazz to blues.

Kids will be entertained with special fun planned exclusively for them, including singing, dancing and storytelling, plus middle and high school bands will perform.

The festival occupies 2 million square feet of downtown Detroit, from Hart Plaza to Campus Martius Park. Two stages occupy the north end, and three at Hart Plaza, plus a Jazz Talk Tent and the Kid Bop Area. For a map, click here.
