Detroit Kennel Club Dog Show

The Detroit Kennel Club (DKC) annual dog shows return to Cobo Hall March 3 and 4.

This weekend the public can see more than 2,000 dogs from the 167 breeds and varieties recognized by the American Kennel Club. Visitors will enjoy demonstrations, obedience and conformation competitions, rare breed exhibits and high flying four-legged competitions. Also, this year the DKC welcomes pure bred rescue and the Rock-N-Roll K9 Performance Team.

The DKC shows are "benched," which allows the public to meet with owners and breeders, where they can learn about breed characteristics, temperament, care, health, grooming, history and other important points.

The 108th DKC Show will take place on Saturday, March 3, and the 109th show will follow on Sunday, March 4.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children (ages 3-12) and seniors (65 and over). Family packs (two adults, three children) are also on sale for $40. Discount tickets are available at Kroger stores. Tickets also will be sold separately for each show and are good only for that day's show. Dogs will be on display to the public and demonstrations will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Best in Show will go into the ring approximately 6 p.m. each day.
