For those families interested in supporting our Junior Sailors in SE MI please plan on attending the Summer Breeze Party and Auction Friday, May 18th at 7:00pm at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, open to all sailing enthusiasts. :-) All proceeds go to fund the GPYNEF. The Auction kicks off the GPYC Great Lakes Boating Festival.
The Foundation announced that it will award scholarships to high school seniors and college students who have participated in junior sailing programs in the area. The GPYNEFwill offer five $1,000 scholarships and hopes to award them in May, according to a press release from the organization. Applications for the scholarship are available on the GPYNEF’s website. In addition, the GPYNEF has presented grants to both Grosse Pointe North and Grosse Pointe South to support the schools’ varsity sailing programs. The Grosse Pointe Yourth Nautical Education Foundation was established to “promote national and international amateur sailing, maritime education and competition, and water safety,” according to the organization's website.
