How about an infusion of jazz into your holiday celebration?
The Grosse Pointe South Band & Orchestra will perform its "Yule Be Boppin'" Winter Jazz Concert 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the South High School Auditorium.
The program will include the Pierce Middle School Jazz Ensemble, which will play four selections: "Blue Train," "Night Train," The Pink Panther," and "Funky Ol' Saint Nick." The newest addition to the Band and Orchestra Program, the Jazz Too Ensemble, will follow the Pierce performance. After that, the award-winning South High School Jazz Ensemble will finish the program with some holiday selections including "Sleigh Ride" in the style of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, as well as a few reprise selections from the Pops and Pastries performance in late October, featuring jazz vocalists Elyse Croce and Emma Aboukasm.

The concert is practically a gift, since it's free to attend, but they will be taking donations to help the ensemble purchase new instruments.
