Winterfest Fun at Woods Lake Front Park

The 11th annual Winterfest returns Jan. 28 to Lake Front Park.

Grosse Pointe Woods residents and their guests are invited to skate, slide, sled and shoot pucks to score at this fun, wintry event. There is no charge, but pre-registration is required.

Highlights of the afternoon include — that is, if Michigan's fickle weather cooperates — ice skating and the Score-O Competition. A giant inflatable slide will also be set up, and all guests can enjoy a hot dog lunch.

There also are a couple of friendly food fights planned: the chili and cookie contests, where contestants can try for the engraved ladle and spatula trophies. Check the November issue of UPDATE or contact the Community Center for contest rules. Judging begins at 10:30 a.m., prior to the official opening of Winterfest.

Register for Winterfest and to enter the chili or cookie competition at the Grosse Pointe Woods Community Center, or the Parks and Recreation department by calling (313) 343-2408 or by email at parks@gpwmi.us.
