Taking Care While Giving Care: Making Informed Decisions While Caring for Loved Ones
The Family Center of Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods is hosting a free event: Taking Care While Giving Care on Thursday, Feb. 25 @ 5 p.m. at the Assumption Cultural Center in St. Clair Shores. The keynote address will offer tips to help manage caregivers’ routines, social life and emotions during challenging times. The panel discussion will assist with legal, logistical, financial planning and issues faced when caring for an aging parent/loved one. Resource tables will be available for those looking for specific support and services. This event is for anyone caring for an aging loved one, or anticipating the need in the future. The keynote address will be presented by Jill LaFaive Gafner, BSBM, CDP, CADDCT, a Certified Dementia Practitioner and Certified Alzhiemer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer. Jill coaches over 1500 people per year on multiple processes and procedures. Also, she authored “Personal Positioning for the Caregiver” which brings attention to supporting caregivers while managing patient’s care.
