Grammy Winner Anita Baker Could Soon be Singing Jailhouse Blues

An arrest warrant has been issued for the celebrated soul singer, who narrowly escaped a jail sentence in a contentious 2010 divorce, after she allegedly failed to pay a contractor $15,000 for work on her gated Grosse Pointe home.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for soul singer Anita Baker for failing to pay a painting and decorating company for $15,000 work on her sprawling Grosse Pointe home.

The eight-time Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter failed to pay the company, Ray Smith Painting and Decorating, for the work, and also failed to appear in court, promoting the arrest warrant, WDIV reports.

Daniel Gerow, an attorney for the decorating company, said the warrant is a last resort and he and his client are “not trying to give her any hard time or anything unnecessary.” If Baker would simply pay up, “that coud end it all right then.”
