Grosse Pointe Board Member Proposes Ignoring County Mask Mandate
A Grosse Pointe school board member introduce a resolution to drop the school district's mask mandate, defying a Wayne County order.

GROSSE POINTE, MI — A resolution was introduced at a school broad meeting Monday night that would make masks optional in Grosse Pointe Public Schools, despite Wayne County's mask mandate.
The county's mandate requires all staff and students to wear masks in K-12 schools. Although some Michigan county's dropped their mask mandate and made wear masks optional, Wayne did not.
But the resolution introduced by board member Lisa Papas would challenge that rule. She said there's a provision in latest state budget drafted by state Republicans that states health officials cannot impose mask requirements for students younger than 18.
