Grosse Pointe High School Evacuated After Bomb Threat

A student is in custody. "This sort of behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated," school says.

Authorities have given the all-clear at Grosse Pointe North High after the school was evacuated Tuesday morning for what turned out to be a bogus bomb threat, and a student is in police custody.

The school in Grosse Pointe Woods was evacuated and closed about 7:30 a.m., but reopened at 8:05 a.m., the Detroit Free Press reports. School officials learned of the threat about 7 a.m. and called police.

The student believed to be responsible for the threat was discovered at home and taken into custody.

In an email to staff and students, school officials said:

“The safety of your students is our first priority. This sort of hoax is not only disruptive to our students, but impacts all of us on an emotional level. This sort of behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”
