Hillary Clinton to Hold Exclusive Fundraiser in Grosse Pointe

A ticket to the upcoming event costs $2,700 – or $27,000 for event co-hosts and $50,000 for hosts.

Democrat Hillary Clinton will hold an exclusive fundraiser in Grosse Pointe later this month, making her first official campaign appearance in Michigan and visiting the state for the second time since campaigning for U.S. Rep. Gary Peters and other Michigan Democrats last October.

Tickets for the fundraiser, to be held July 21 at the home of David Katz and Jill Alper, cost $2,700, according to an event invitation obtained by the Detroit Free Press. Donors giving $27,000 are event co-hosts, while those giving $50,000 billed as event hosts.

Michigan donors have deep pockets, having given more than $16 million to presidential candidates in the 2012. Millions more in PAC money flowed into campaign coffers.The state is also rich with – 152 for the Democrats and 59 for Republicans.

Together those assets have meant a steady stream of candidates have been coming into the state, including Detroit native Dr. Ben Carson, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky. Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, all Republicans.
