Grosse Pointe North sends Vikings home with three-game loss, 25-23, 26-24, 25-21, in key MAC Red matchup.

Anyone who says there are no big volleyball matches in September was certainly not in the stands Tuesday night when beat Macomb Area Conference Red rival, Marysville High, 25-23, 26-24, 25-21.

There was a playoff-type intensity to the game and the enthusiastic crowd, players, and coaches reflected this atmosphere from the match's opening moments until North's Julia Guest ended the match with an ace in the third game.

The victory was a big one for the Lady Norsemen who now take control of the Red at 3-0, while Marysville drops to 2-1 in the division after the loss.

As expected, the games were back-and-forth throughout, with neither team able to pull away at any point in any of the three contests.

In the opening match of the contest, North jumped out to an early lead, only to find that Marysville battled back to knot the game at 21-21.

The Lady Norsemen were resilient though, and kept their composure with each Viking rally, weathering the Marysville storm and ultimately winning the match in three-straight games.

The win moves North to 11-3-2 overall.
