Man Found Surrounded by 'Mountains' of Beer Cans Likely Dead for Months
Police have ruled out foul play in the death of the northern Michigan man, whose body was discovered Thursday in his unheated home.

A northern Michigan man whose body was discovered Thursday on his couch, surrounded by “mountains” of beer cans, died of natural causes, police said.
Traverse City Police Capt. Jeff O’Brien said Douglas Wilson Rose, 54, had probably been dead since December, when neighbors last saw him, according to the Traverse City Record-Eagle.

A relative of Rose’s asked police to do a welfare check after her phone calls were unanswered and mail bounced back. Police told UpNorth.com that the post office stopped delivering mail in January after it began piling up.
There was no heat in the house, “so he was well preserved,” O’Brien said.
