Police Blotter: Eggs Thrown, Drunken Driver and Dog Bite

Grosse Pointe Shores
Trying to "crack" the case
Police were called Sunday night to a home on Colonial after a 49-year-old resident called to say that her house was egged over the weekend. According to a police report, the front of the house and garage were egged. A BMW parked in the driveway also had broken, dried eggs on it. Police are investigating.

Potential party broken up
While on patrol early Saturday morning, officers came upon a number of vehicles parked at a home in the 500 block of Lake Shore. The vehicles were occupied by a number of "young people" according to a report. Officers found numerous closed containers of beer and a bottle of vodka. The alcohol was seized and the cars were dispersed.

Driving under the influence
Early Saturday morning officers stopped a Jeep that was driving erratically near Lake Shore and Tonnacour. The 55-year-old Grosse Pointe resident had difficultly with the field sobriety test, and blew nearly twice the legal limit when given a preliminary breath test. She was later released on a $500 bond and charges are pending.
Illegal smoke in the car
Officers pulled over a Mazada early Saturday morning at Lake Shore and Lochmoor that had an expired plate that was on the wrong vehicle. The driver, a 23-year-old Ann Arbor resident, had a suspended driver's license. When officers approached the car, they could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. Upon investigation, officers found a medicine bottle with marijuana on the driver. The driver was arrested for improper plates, driving while license suspended, possession of marijuana and no proof of insurance. He was released on $500 bond and charges are pending.
Grosse Pointe Woods
Mom's dog bites son
Police were called Saturday afternoon to a home in the 600 block of Birch Lane for a report of dog bite. A 23-year-old Grosse Pointe Woods man said that he was attacked by his mother's dog without warning and was bit on his hand. The female bullmastiff also ripped his jeans and punctured the skin on his leg. The dog was quarantined and the owner was told it would not be allowed back in the city.
Mom-to-Mom "steal"
Officers were called to Christ the King Lutheran church Saturday for a report of a stolen bag and wallet from a woman working at a Mom-to-Mom sale. When the 37-year-old Grosse Pointe resident noticed her purse was missing, she began to search the premises. The purse was found in the men's bathroom with nearly $200 missing. A witness saw a young male about 10 years old, and a female about 35 years old, leaving the restroom. Police are investigating.
Suspicious delivery
Police were called to the 1700 block of Severn Friday afternoon for a report of a suspicious package on the resident's front porch. The cylinder-shaped package was addressed to someone who did not live at the residence, with a return address from Afghanistan. The Michigan State Police bomb squad was called in, and neighbors were evacuated. An X-ray of the package was taken, and women's clothing and jewelry were determined to be inside the package. Upon further investigation, the package was addressed to a former resident.
