Police Blotter: Electronics Stolen in the Park

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the theft of an Xbox, Wii Console, a Mac laptop computer and televisions stolen from two apartments in the 800 block of Beaconsfield. The items were stolen from the two apartments on Sept. 7 between 9:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The back door to the building was found unlocked and the apartment resident admitted that she left the front door unlocked, according to a report.
Driver knocks down light pole on Lakeshore
police arrested a Milford man Sept. 12 after he drove his 2012 Corvette into a light pole at Vernier and Lake Shore roads. A witness reported seeing a black Corvette crash into the pole, knocking it down, and then drive south on Lake Shore. A 40-year-old man was stopped a short time later at approximately 8:36 p.m. on Fontana after the vehicle he was driving matched the vehicle described by the accident witness. He smelled of alcohol and refused to complete field sobriety tests. He was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He also refused to take a breathalyzer test but was taken to an area hospital with a signed warrant for a blood draw, according to a report.

Traffic stops lead to drug charges
Grosse Pointe Park police stopped a 48-year-old man Sept. 5 for driving erratically. Officers stopped the driver about 11:45 p.m. near Mack Avenue and Alter Road, discovered he was driving on a suspended license and was searched. Officers found he had crack cocaine. He was charged with possession of cocaine, according to a report.

In a similar case, police stopped a St. Clair Shores man Sept. 10 at about 5:30 p.m. for failing to lower his high beam headlights. The 25-year-old man was driving south on Moross Road near Chalfonte when he was stopped, during which police discovered he had a warrant for a probation violation for disorderly conduct in Clinton Township. He was arrested and during his vehicle’s impound inventory, a 5.1 gram bag of marijuana was found in backpack. He is charged with failing to dim headlights and possession of marijuana, according to a report.
