Poll: Is Michigan the True Mitten State?

Wisconsin's travel website is using a mitten image on its travel website; some Michiganians think Wisconsin should keep their hands off our mitten.

Do you think it's thumbs-up or thumbs-down to Wisconsin's use of a mitten image in its winter promotions?

According to a story on Mlive.com, the Wisconsin Department of Tourism is using the image of a slightly misshapen mitten to look like the state of Wisconsin on its winter travel site.

This has prompted some good-natured jousting between the folks in Wisconsin who think their state is shaped like a mitten, and Michiganians who know there can only be one mitten state.

According to the Mlive story:

"Dave Lorenz, manager of public and industry relations for the state of Michigan, said the two state tourism agencies are friendly.

“We understand their mitten envy,” he said with a chuckle, “but there is only one mitten state, only one Great Lakes state, there's only one “Winter Wonderland state — only one, and it is Michigan. Pure Michigan.”
