North, South, Liggett Host Volleyball Tournament to Raise Awareness

The three high schools in the Grosse Pointes hosted a volleyball tournament Monday night to raise awareness about cancer, naming it 'Project Pink in the Pointes.'

There was a special element to this inaugural tri-meet event.  It was an opportunity to come together to raise awareness about breast cancer and to show support for those who are battling this devastating disease. Project Pink in the Pointes is about bringing an unexpected joy to someone battling breast cancer and continuing to support research to find a cure.

When Math teacher at , Nicole Sturgeon was diagnosed with breast cancer; staff and students put together goodie bags filled with little things to make life easier.  She would takes these bags with her to chemo days. The plan is to surprise fighters at their chemotherapy treatments.  

In the competition, Grosse Pointe North won two out of three games against , won two out of three games against Liggett and Grosse Pointe North won three out of five games against Grosse Pointe South.
