'Real Housewives' Star Tired of Being Asked Why She Didn't Cough Up $20K to Detroit Schools
Leakes challenged co-star Kenya Moore, a Detroit native, to give $20,000 to struggling schools. Moore paid, but Leakes hasn't made good.

Last year during a testy exchange between “Real Housewives of Atlanta” stars NeNe Leakes and Kenya Moore, Leakes challenged Moore to give $20,000 to Detroit’s struggling public school system and said she would do the same.
Moore made her $20,000 donation at an October appearance at Cass Technical High School, her alma mater, and since then has been taunting her adversary on the show for failing to pay up. The hate between the two ‘Real Housewives’ stars is epic, according to Us Weekly.

“You cannot have a rational conversation with someone who only wants to hear themselves talk,” Moore said, according to an account on RealityTea.com. “NeNe does what she always does, and that’s to drown people out with her loud and harsh criticism. Yet she can’t keep silent long enough to hear anyone else. NeNe is a big, brash bully and she will never change.”
Leakes parlayed her “Real Housewives” success into a role on Broadway as the wicked stepmother in “Cinderella,” and Moore said that ought to make her flush enough to cough up the cash.

“She wants someone to support her and be happy for her success, but then stiffs needy kids out of $20,000!” Moore chided on RealityTea. “Write a check to help some children thrive and be able to have an education in order to have options in life.”
Also on Patch:
Moore thinks Leakes only issued the challenge to donate Detroit Public Schools Foundation “because she thought I didn’t have the money to match hers.”
“She never intended to pay,” Moore accused her former co-star. “She said, ‘I write the check you match it.’ However, I wrote the check first. So what is the issue?”
“Watch What Happens Live” host Andy Cohen wondered that, too. In a reunion show broadcast on Bravo TV Sunday, Cohen asked Leakes about it, relaying a question from a fan:
“NeNe, will you ever donate to the Detroit schools?”
“Oh child, please quit asking me that,” Leakes responded. “I’m so over it, I don’t care what these people ask you. I will do what I want to do when I want to do it, OK? Let’s be very clear about that. They can tweet and ask you anything they want. I do what I want to do. I’m not going to be forced to do anything.”
Cohen reminded Leakes the challenge was her idea. Though she didn’t directly answer the question, Leakes took an apparent swipe at Moore, saying that charitable donations should be made in private.
Moore didn’t exactly rush to Detroit with the cash. She canceled two appearances before delivering the check, according to the lovebscott.com site.
“I’m proud to be able to give back and keep my promise to the Detroit public schools foundation to donate $20,000,” she said in October. “Detroit is a resilient city and so am I. I will continue to shine despite the people who want to see me fail or try to turn my positivity in to negativity. See you soon Detroit!”
