Summer Theatre Camp Students to Perform 'Bye Bye Birdie'
Two performances Thursday July 7 at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial are the culmination of the three week theatre camp for students.

Students from a musical theatre camp will perform their show twice Thursday, July 7, in public performances at the .
The students, ranging in age from 8 to 14 years old, will perform Bye Bye Birdie: Student Edition at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tickets are $9 for general admission. Students and seniors pay $6.
The camp, which began June 20, offers students a hands-on role in the production of a musical. The students develop the dance, script, character development as well as how to stage the show.

One of the camp's teachers, Heather Albrecht, said the students have been working daily to prepare for the shows. Dress rehearsals began Tuesday and continue into Wednesday leading up to the first show Thursday.
The original musical is about a rockstar called off to war.
