📰 News we're reading

• Howell High School Student Wins National FCCLA Championship (whmi.com) — A recent Howell High School graduate, Lucy Snow, just won a national FCCLA "Teaching Strategies" championship, the first time any Michigan student has taken that title. Four fellow Howell students also brought home national medals in design, hospitality, and child-focused events, spotlighting the strength of local career and technical education programs.

• Challenger Elementary School had 432 white students in 2024-25 (livingstontoday.com) — Challenger Elementary, part of Howell Public Schools, enrolled 432 white students in 2024–25, making up 92.9% of its 465-student body. Districtwide, Howell High School had the highest number of white students, and the story places these figures in the context of Michigan's post-pandemic academic performance and achievement gaps.

• Three people, horse injured after crash in Conway Township (bluewaterhealthyliving.com) — A 22-year-old Howell woman was seriously injured Friday when her car was struck by a pickup pulling a horse trailer at Chase Lake and Fowlerville roads in Conway Township. Two others and the horse also suffered injuries, and the Livingston County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate while noting speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
