• Howell man faces charges for allegedly threatening circuit court judge (mlive.com) — A Howell man has been charged in 53rd District Court with making a terroristic threat and related computer and telecommunications crimes after allegedly texting his probation officer about killing a circuit court judge from a prior case. Michigan's attorney general says her Hate Crimes and Domestic Terrorism Unit will prosecute and urges Howell-area residents to report serious threats and suspicious activity to local police.
• Attorneys appointed by governor to state boards and commissions (legalnews.com) — Howell resident and retired attorney Timothy Schnelle has been appointed to the Michigan Tax Tribunal, giving the community a direct voice on complex state tax disputes starting November 8, 2026. He'll serve as an at‑large member through June 2027, joining several other newly named attorneys on statewide boards that oversee child welfare, nursing, occupational therapy, and law enforcement standards.
• Trump Officials Highlight Support for Small Businesses During Visit to Howell (whmi.com) — A Howell defense contractor, Highland Engineering, hosted two Trump administration officials and Congressman Tom Barrett to spotlight federal support for small manufacturers and local jobs. Company leaders praised deregulation and tax relief, while officials promoted an America First economic agenda they say is boosting orders, growth, and employment for workers in Howell and mid-Michigan.
