Baker College to celebrate graduates in Flint

Baker College's Online/Graduate Studies and Flint campus will honor nearly 1,700 graduates in June.

FLINT TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Baker College’s Online/Graduate Studies and Flint campus will honor nearly 1,700 graduates in June.

The 2017 commencement ceremony for the 1,061 graduates of Baker College Online/Center for Graduate Studies was Friday, June 2, at The Whiting, Flint. The commencement ceremony for approximately 600 students from Baker College’s Flint and Cass City campuses is 1 p.m., Sunday, June 11, at Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center, 3501 Lapeer Road, Flint.

“It is with great honor that we present the 2017 class of Baker College graduates,” said Wen Hemingway, MBA, CTP, Baker College of Flint president. “We’re proud that they chose Baker College to prepare them to fulfill their goals as so many others have done since the college was founded in 1911.”

2017 marks the first graduates of the new Baker College electrical engineering bachelor’s degree program, which was first launched at the Flint campus.

An outstanding student in each of the Flint campus’ career programs will be recognized at the June 11 commencement ceremony.

Baker College employees among this year’s graduates are:

  • Danielle Duncan, of Grand Blanc, surgical technology/sterile processing program director – master’s degree in healthcare administration.
  • Rebecca Richmond, of Birch Run, medical assisting program coordinator – master’s degree in education.
  • Catherine Ann Trammel, of Howell, nursing faculty member – master’s degree in nursing.
  • Kathleen Kyle, of Grand Blanc, nursing faculty member – master’s degree in nursing.
  • Jill Witzman, of Flint, nursing faculty member – master’s degree in nursing.

At the Online/Graduate Studies commencement ceremony, Baker College Career Advisor Lisa Grundy, of Grand Blanc, earned an MBA in leadership studies. She walked together with her daughter, Halley Hutchins, of Flint, who received a medical assistant associate degree.
