Following a 64-37 loss to Howell on Friday night, it’s safe to say that the Hartland boys basketball team is in a rut.
“We played hard, they played harder. Our kids didn’t lack effort,” Hartland head coach Frank Leppek said.
There are two main things they did lack; size and Matt Poches.

The Highlanders had three players in double-digit scoring, all of them over 6-foot-5.
“We didn’t shoot well against their size,” Leppek added.

The Eagles are 1-3 after losing Poches last week. Leppek said he will be reevaluated on Feb. 21.
Kevin Hughes led Hartland in points with 11. With the loss, Hartland concludes the regular season with a 7-9 overall record and 3-7 record in the Kensington Lakes Activities Assocation West Division.
Next up for the Eagles is the KLAA tournament that begins on Thursday. Pairings and a schedule have yet to be released.
