The killing of children because the adults are willing to sacrifice the children's lives in the name of their own "freedom and security" is, I believe, the core issue. Pres Obama, without calling any meeting with gun control or gun advocates or mental health people, could demonstrate that our country values children by stopping drone attacks that kill children, accepting their deaths as "collateral damage." Obama could tell the Israeli Gov't that bombing Gaza in 2008-2009 where over 326 Palestinian children were killed, and then again in Nov of 2012 where 35 more Palestinian children were killed in the name of Israeli security is unacceptable.
The US media could use print, tv, digital, social media to publish the photos, names, stories of all the children that have been "collateral damage" in the wars that the US and Israel is responsible for and then ask the Foreign media around the world to do the same in the other countries responsible for "preemptive wars," regular wars, even the rebel groups that are putting their women and children at risk by attacking and killing the opposition such as in Syria. Lets document the deaths of these children around the world caused by the official and unofficial adults in charge.
As Obama so eleoquently put it yesterday at the memorial service for the 20 children-why are we here, what is our purpose if not to secure our children, our future? His question needs to be asked of all the adults on the planet as no one's children are secure until everyone's children are!
